A great place to raise children.

We are an active duty family who did a PCS in from Holloman AFB, New Mexico to Langley AFB, VA. We have been in the Air Force for over 20 years and were looking to live in a place with a low crime rate, good education system, and land with privacy. We found it here in Gloucester and love it. Our daughter did well in New Mexico but had to study even harder just to compete with the students here in Gloucester. She is in college now making straight A's and should be transferring to the College of William and Mary by the fall of 2010. For anyone to say this is a poor educational system is dead wrong. These students are expected to at least maintain a standard of learning and have met their Annual Yearly Progress. Visit the site "School Matters" for specific details. Gloucester High School received a 5 out of 5 star rating. These students have not forgotten their manners and have some good old fashion principles and morals. My daughter had some great teachers who raised the bar and we are so glad to have found this place.
